I'm aware that I often use cigarettes in my work, but I'm realizing now that I'm getting really obsessed with them. I guess the reason is that I can't smoke in my apartment. So when I'm drawing, this is all my thinking of(or almostI'm not
that addict).
On that note, here's some snapshots of new projects I've recently finished. Both featuring my object fetish.
Killer Beauty
This project was part of my new resolution: to take my own photos more often. When I work with pictures in my collages or illustrations, I usually use the ones from others. And even if what I make is very different from the original photo , there is always a part of me that feel that I do not own 100% of the final piece.
I've made this D.I.Y. photoshoot with a maquette made out of construction paper. It was really fun making the little scene and working with my lighting to create the right shadow. It is also very different of my usual illustrations. It's not perfect, but it feels good to try new things. You realize that it is kind of stupid to always do what you are comfortable with.
Le Smoking
My trilogy painting (acrylic) based on a stunning black & white photo of
Kate Moss. After three times re-painting the red to get it right (from neon orange and burgundy),
now I love it. It's so British. And the three 24x36 canvas are stunning in my big all-white living room.
M.I.A.For my side, I should not be posting a lot in the next following weeks since I'm getting very busy with work. I'm going to Dubai art directing a photoshoot for the cover of my magazine. Then stoping to London. And after going to Cancun for my vacations (ouf). I wish you guys will have a nice spring, and I will be back posting more after those crazy two months.
